> Digital Art Core Drawing and Illustration Course Structure

DigiKidz Academy digital art core courses are small-group classes (maximum 9 students per class) taught by professional artists with real industry experience and expertise. Our classroom is equipped with top-spec Asus gaming laptops with dedicated graphics cards, dual monitors (including a 27" ProArt display), digital drawing tablets, Adobe Photoshop Elements, and ergonomic gaming chairs.

While drawing and illustration are our primary track, we also offer classes like pixel art, animation and 3D printing (see below).

• Multiple Learning Tracks Designed for Your Digital Art Growth

Digital art core courses are structure in three levels of learning tracks. These tracks provide flexible scheduling, fun and interactive class environment, and a focused approach to developing specific skills and topics:

• Foundations Track: Focus on fundamental digital art skills, including mastering layers and drawing tools, sketching, line art, coloring, composition, perspective, background/environment design. Learn essential art concepts in a digital environment and establish good digital creation work habits.

       Most beginners will start with Foundations Track.

• Intermediate Track: Continue to build on concepts in Foundations Track, plus learn pixel art and simple animation, character design, comic design, and more.

       After completing all requirements for the Foundations Track, student will enroll in the Intermediate Track.

• Advanced Track: Continue to build on concepts in Foundations Track, plus learning 2D drawing animation, use of AI, basic sound design, video editing and graphic design. Prepare student for more advanced education in digital art-related fields.

       After completing all requirements for the Intermediate Track, student will enroll in the Advanced Track.

• Competency-Based Education (CBE)

Digital art core courses are Competency-Based Education (CBE) since we emphazise the effectiveness of our education. Students will progress by demonstrating mastery of core art concepts and skills.

• Class Unit: A class unit includes one or more core art concepts, skills and exercises taught during a 2-hour class session. Each student’s participation and classwork will be evaluated, earning progress points for that unit. Classwork features a tiered structure designed to match various skill levels. Individual student’s progress will be tracked and reported to parents. Students will level up to higher-level tracks once they earn the minimum points required to advance. Each class unit allows students to earn up to 20 points.
• Personal Project: Student will complete a personal project every 8 weeks, which will be presented to the class and reviewed by peers and the instructor. Each personal project allows students to earn up to 50 points.
• Optional At-Home Support: DigiKidz Academy will provide optional exercises for students who need additional support at home. Students can earn extra points for completing these exercises. Each home exercise allows students to earn up to 5 points.

To level up to the next track, students must earn 80% of the total maximum points from classwork and personal projects, NOT including homework points. The total maximum points (NOT including homework points) and points needed for leveling up are below:

• Foundations Track: Total 630 points; requires at least 504 points to move to the Intermediate Track.

• Intermediate Track: Total 840 points; requires at least 672 points to move to the Advanced Track.

• Advanced Track: Total 1050 points; requires at least 840 points to complete all core courses.

DigiKidz offers one-time workshops with a focused topic. Our workshops emphasize the application of digital art and focus on hands-on art making experiences, including design and make your own stickers, pin buttons, greeting cards, fridge magenets, keychains, tree ornaments, bookmarks, etc.

This is a fun and low-commitment way to try out digital art and learn more about DigiKidz Academy. Free workshops are primarily for beginners to try out digital arts. Paid workshops offer more in-depth instruction, more time and personalized feedback. 

We also offer "Create and Make: Private Group Workshops (Stickers, Button, 3D Prints and More)". Private groups are a popular option for homeschool teams, organizations (like Girl Scouts) and any creative club!  Click here for more details.

> Short-Term Courses

DigiKidz also offers non-recurring courses that last for a set duration with a focused topic. They are all taught with the same principles as the drawing tracks. Classes are project based and students are encouraged to create something they like!

> Private Lessons, Tutoring and More...

If you're not a group learner or have special learning considerations, we also offer private tutoring sessions.  Private groups and tutoring allows more felxibility in speed and focus of learning.  This is suitable for both kids and adults and can be customized.
